Umit Singh Dhuga is an Anglo-Indian philologist and writer based in Toronto. His poetry and criticism have appeared in The Antigonish Review, The CommonThe Hudson Review, The Literary Review of Canada, Parnassus, PN ReviewThe Southwest Review, and other journals. His poetry and translations have also been anthologized in The Greek Poets: Homer to the Present (W.W. Norton, 2010), The Forward Book of Poetry 2018 (Faber & Faber, 2017), Modern English Poetry by Younger Indians (Sahitya Akademi, 2019), and elsewhere. His debut collection of poems—The Sight of a Goose Going Barefoot (Eyewear, 2017)—was Highly Commended by the Forward Prizes for Poetry 2018 for the poem "Philoctetes at the Gym".

Dhuga’s first book, Choral Identity and the Chorus of Elders in Greek Tragedy (Rowman & Littlefield, 2011), was published through Harvard University’s Center for Hellenic Studies in the series “Greek Studies: Interdisciplinary Approaches”. Following his baccalaureate work at Berkeley and at Amherst College, he received his PhD in Classics from Columbia University in 2006 and has since taught at Brandeis University, Knox College, and elsewhere.
